League Updates – July 2019

Monday night saw the semi-finals of Monday Men’s Div. 1 take place, with premiers Boris Team Saints surprisingly going down to FNQ 5-2. FNQ’s keeper was in fine form, keeping Boris Team Saints at bay for the majority of the match. Boris Team Saints will be disappointed not to make the grand final after dominating the league. In the other semi-final, SAINTS edged NIG- NEW ITALIAN GENERATION 3-2 in a close contest.

In the Monday Men’s Div. 2 semi-finals, Scoregasm put on a powerful attacking display to beat Underwater Squad 11-5. Ahmed Bataineh was the star for Scoregasm with four goals to propel his side into the grand final. In the other semi-final, premiers Game of Throw Ins took on Celtic fc, with Celtic pulling off a big upset by winning a close game 7-5. This result meant that the premiers from Monday Men’s Divisions 1 and 2 both failed to qualify for their respective grand finals.

Monday Men’s Div. 3 premiers Dinamo broke the trend by beating NF Tractor Collective 3-1 in the first of the Div. 3 semi-finals. Anything less for Dinamo would have been a huge disappointment after they went the whole season without dropping a point – an impressive achievement! Our Mums put in a strong performance in the other semi-final, beating HAWKIES 8-2 to qualify for next week’s final.

In La Macelleria Monday Mixed, GOLAZOS occupy first position on the ladder with 37 points, followed by Norfolk & Chance on 33 points. Prestige Worldwide and Who is IN sit in third and fourth spot respectively. In Grill’d Tuesday Mixed, Cheeses Rocks have maintained a perfect record to cement first place, winning all five of their games so far. Paddington Pansies are hot on their heels in second, with KEMARI and Quick Response rounding out the top four placings.

Last night’s La Lupa Wednesday Men’s Div. 1 grand final saw BEROCCA JUNIORS beat Molyballers 10-5, with Michael Khoury starring with four goals. Daniel Blickling of FC Rolling Potatoes claimed the Golden Boot prize with 16 goals. The La Lupa Wednesday Men’s Div. 2 grand final saw Trip Hazzard crowned champions after defeating Dad Bods FC 8-4, with both Rainer Balzat and Rourke Pilling bagging hat-tricks in the win. Sean Evangelista of 9mm FC took home the Golden Boot prize with 25 goals.

And last but not least, the new season of Ballistic Brewing Co. Thursday Men’s has just gotten underway, with Go With The Flo and The Cartel sharing the lead after two rounds.
